Because VisiCopy is a free and open-source software, monetization is non-existent. We want to provide the best possible experience with our software. Achieving this goal requires financial support and contributions to our codebase + documentation. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
Codebase Contributions
After the first stable release, contributions to the codebase would greatly support the further development of VisiCopy. Developer documentation is currently in the works. After the developer documentation is complete, all the resources needed for getting into the development process of VisiCopy will be available.
Financial Support
Code signing for executables is a security measure that ensures the authenticity and integrity of software. By embedding a digital signature into the .exe files, developers can verify that the software comes from a trusted source and has not been tampered with since it was signed. This process involves obtaining a code signing certificate from a trusted certificate authority, such as Sectigo or DigiCert. When users download and install the signed executable, Windows checks the digital signature to confirm its validity. If the signature is valid, the software runs without any warnings, providing users with confidence that the application is safe and trustworthy.
Currently, VisiCopy is not codesigned because of the cost of codesigning. To get VisiCopy codesigned, we would need to pay upwards of five hundred dollars per year. Because of limited financial resources, we cannot currently do this. Getting VisiCopy code signed is a major goal and needs to be done to make it more usable and accessible to everyone.
Any donations will go towards getting VisiCopy code signed. You can donate any amount you like here. Thank you for your support!
